About Me...

I have always enjoyed handcraft work, possibly due to my Cherokee Indian background while growing up in East Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains. I am a self-taught weaver, dabbled in ceramics, and a needlework enthusiast. As always, in any craft one is inclined to find the need for tools that may not always be readily available or too costly to afford. As such, I made for myself a chatelaine in order to organize the needlework tools I most often use and wanted right at my fingertips. After others saw the chatelaines, they too wanted something similar.

I, my husband Tony, who is retired, and our three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels now live in the Southern California countryside on 10 acres of land where the noisiest things are hummingbirds and coyotes.
Red tailed hawks circle above while the fog rolls in from the ocean, reminding me so of the Smoky Mountains that I still miss dearly. We also have deer, raccoon, bobcats, and an occasional, but rare, mountain lion. On a clear winter day we can see the ocean, although it is some 30 miles south of us. Though it may be hard to believe for some in clustered neighborhoods, everyone around us has at least 5 acres in this community called LaCresta that sits next to an 8200 acre Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological preserve. Our home backs up to the preserve, where nature remains pristine.

I've spent mary, many hours crafting, and now, creating needlework tools and accessories in this peaceful, serene setting. I hope you will browse through my Creations and find a treasure that will add enjoyment to the many hours you spend needleworking.

May God Bless,
Wawanna
